One rusher and four man defenders, with no deep safety. The eligible center is covered. The rusher attacks from the legal starting depth while the four coverage defenders maintain their matchups.

Four man defenders cover the center, slot/back and two outside receivers. One free safety protects the deep middle. There is no designated rusher.

Two rushers, one underneath hook defender and two deep safeties. The hook defender reads the QB from the middle zone; this is not a dedicated man-following spy. Only three players remain in coverage.

One rusher, two flat corners and two deep safeties. There is no middle hook defender: pressure and two-deep help come at the cost of underneath middle coverage.

Three deep defenders and two underneath defenders, with no designated rusher. Corners bail to outside thirds, the free safety protects the middle, and the underneath pair share the flats and short middle.
